menino is the musical link between Europe and Brazil. It was founded in 1993
by vocalist and connoisseur of Brazil, Stephan Maria, in cooperation with
producer Winfried Schuld. Together with the band they developed a
stilistically idiosyncratic music, characterized
by powerful drum beats and melodious songs. The result of personal
engagement with international, mainly the Brazilian, music culture. The
charitable institution menino e.V., furthermore, fosters street children in
the Northeast of Brazil.
The songs experiment with languages - Brazilian, English, and German - they
merge to a meaningful world-mix. A compact sound together with the music
that is rich in variations form menino's Brazilian-cultural diversity in
styles. The multi-faceted rhythm and harmony shows influences from the
Samba, Reggae, Bahian Afro, as well as the Salsa and similar elements.
