At the beginning of the year menino released their forth album '39degrees'. For the first time the band produced and recorded an album in their own studio. Their Label TOCA-Records took care of the distribution. Drummer Guido Kehr leaves the band and is replaced by Uli Krämer, the owner of the drum-shop 'Drums only' in Koblenz. In September menino performed, on invitation of Volkwagen, at the Earth-Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. The response of the audience there was extremely positive and motivating. On December 6, Stephan Glöckner received, in representation of the band, the 'Federal Cross of Merit' from Germany¹s President Johannes Rau. At the end of the year menino released two new versions of the song 'Bruder Bom Demais' on a presentation-CD of the PR-company 'shapefruit'.
